Today in class we worked on our project on the Battle of Antietam. This battle has been named the bloodiest battle in American history. 23,000 soldiers had died. What made this battle unique was that it was the first battle ever fought in the northern states. This battle later led to Abraham Lincoln's proclamation.
            I dropped english today.

Today in history class we discussed a Picture of abraham lincoln. Mr. Boyle informed us that back then you had to stay still for 30 seconds for the picture to not be blurry and Abe lincoln is smiling in the picture which means he must have been very happy.
        In english we read chapter 10 and discussed what happened in it.

Today in history we talked about a slave who tried to sue his owner. I had never heard of a slave who sued his master. This interested me a lot. It made me think of what if my cat sued me. Since they treated slaves less than humans I just wondered about that.

today in class we talked about he land that the U.S. earned by defeating the mexicans. We also talked about the land that we bought from France in the louisiana purchase.
      In english we read chapter 1 of huck finn. The book seems interesting I guess. We haven't read enough to get a full picture but I'm looking forward to reading it.

today in history we read three story's about slaves. The story's really showed how bad the life of a slave really was. They literally treated slaves like property and not humans. It was very disturbing. In one story a mother went out of her way to protect her children and they didn't care.
In english we had a substitute.

Today in history we talked about how the U.S. defeated Mexico to gain a whole lot of land in the U.S.
We also talked about how the U.S. also bought a lot of land from France which was known as the louisianna purchase.
In english we went to the library and researched facts about huck finn. I found out why this book was so controversy. This was because a racial derogatory term was used to describe african-americans. This "term" was used 219 times! No wonder it raised some eyebrows.

today in history we talked about a paper written by an escape slave. This slave was very angry and demanded that laws should be changed because it didn't make sense to have a man own another man. I can imagine why he is angry and I agreed with him.
     In english we reviewed Julius caeser. I thought it was a very good play. It had a good plot.

Today in class we talked about how general cornwallis surrendered to the americans to end the war. We gained our independence some what. Cornwallis was so embarassed he sent someone to surrender for him.
We also talked about thomas pain's "the crisis" which was a pamphlet about the war.
    In english we read some of act 3 and 4.

Today in class we went to the library and played a computer game where we talked to people with problems and would see if they had a right. Then we would lead them to a lawyer who would try to win the case.It helped me remember the amendments.
           I dropped english today.
         My connection would be to connect Lawyers in real life on what they have to do to help clients win cases. It was interesting to play this game and learn about peoples rights.

I dropped history today.
In English we wrote about our definition of inner peace. We were also given an assignment to draw a cover for a separate peace.

Today in History we went over more stuff about the government. We talked about state governments and national governments.
In english we had a substitute. we wrote in our notebooks our definition of friendship. we also read a short biography on the author of a separate peace.
My connection would be to connect our discussion on how if we could change a state law what would we change to how barrack obama would want to change certain laws.

Today in class we handed in our storyboards. We also discussed our worksheet on why we have a national government. We all gave good reasons on why we need a national government. After our descussion Mr. Boyle in formed us of our assignment tonight. Our assignment was to post on blogger what we did in history and english everynight.
      All I did in english was write an essay.
      My connection from todays descussion would be to connect it to the articles we read about the government when it was first being formed. It was very interesting to read and compare to our government now and how things had changed.
